Evaluation: Judge Cristina Jaramillo received mixed ratings as part of this evaluation. Some of her strengths include maintaining proper control over the courtroom, ruling on motions and cases in a timely manner, being attentive to proceedings, and being courteous to court employees. Some of the lower scores were in the areas of prejudging the outcome of cases and not always finding facts and interpreting the law without regard to public criticism. She has displayed a willingness to improve her judicial skills and has exhibited a positive attitude toward self-improvement.
Experience & Education: Judge Jaramillo was appointed to the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court in December 2002 and was elected to the position in November 2004. Prior to her judicial appointment, she was employed by the New Mexico Public Defender Department as a public defender for indigent criminal defendants. She has been involved in various professional organizations including the New Mexico Drug Court Professionals. Judge Jaramillo earned her undergraduate, masters and law degrees from the University of New Mexico.
