Welcome! The New Mexico Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission was created by the Supreme Court of New Mexico to improve the performance of judges and provide useful, credible information to voters on judges standing for retention. Judges must receive 57% voter approval to remain on the bench.

This year, we will be providing recommendations to voters on a Supreme Court justice and seven (7) Metropolitan Court judges prior to the 2022 general election. Please check back on or after September 16, 2022 to view our evaluations and recommendations.

Please note there are two places to vote for judges on this year's ballot. Judicial candidates running in a partisan election (identified by party) typically appear near the top of the ballot, and judges standing for retention (who are not running against another candidate) typically appear near the bottom of the ballot in a section labeled retention. NMJPEC only evaluates judges who are standing for retention.

Please review our evaluations and vote on ALL propositions and elections – including judicial retention elections. Your vote counts!
