Evaluation: Overall, Judge Asra Elliott’s scores were somewhat mixed. For example, attorneys rated her positively for being attentive to the proceedings, treating pro se (self-represented) parties fairly, conducting proceedings without favoritism, and for ensuring her personal staff is professional, productive, and knowledgeable of court policies and procedures. However, there are some areas in which the attorneys rated her somewhat lower. In her interview, Judge Elliott acknowledged that she is working to improve in these areas through education, systems development, and mindfulness. The court staff rated her highly on all attributes.

Experience & Education: Judge Asra Elliott received her undergraduate degree from Pitzer College, Claremont, California in 2000. She received her law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, San Diego, California in 2009. Prior to her judicial appointment, she worked as an Associate Staff Attorney at the 2nd Judicial District Court and the NM Court of Appeals. She also served as an Associate Public Defender in Bernalillo County and as an Assistant District Attorney in Santa Fe and Valencia Counties. She was appointed a Metro Court Judge in 2022. Judge Elliott’s community involvement has included serving on the Albuquerque Downtown Neighborhood Association and Big Brother Big Sisters. She currently serves on the NM Supreme Court UJI Criminal Committee.
