Election Results:

Evaluation: Judge Courtney Weaks’ overall survey results were mixed. Judge Weaks was rated positively by attorneys for being attentive to the proceedings and for ensuring her personal staff is professional, productive, and knowledgeable of court policies and procedures. However, attorneys rated Judge Weaks lower on exercising sound legal reasoning and knowledge of substantive law and the rules of procedure and evidence. The court staff, resource staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation/parole, CASA volunteers, CYFD, interpreters, etc.) and jurors rated the judge positively on all attributes. Prior to her interview with the Commission, she identified issues causing her weaker scores and is making improvements. Judge Weaks is committed to upholding the high standards required of a District Judge.

Experience & Education: Judge Courtney Weaks was elected to the District Court Bench in 2020. She previously served as a Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court Judge from 2014 to 2020. Judge Weaks received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in 2004 and her law degree from the UNM School of Law in 2007.
