Evaluation: Judge Robert Aragon received generally positive ratings from attorneys and court staff. Among attorneys, he was given positive ratings for being attentive to the proceedings, ensuring personal staff is professional, productive and knowledgeable, finding facts and interpreting the law without regard to possible public criticism, and maintaining proper control over proceedings. In addition, the court staff rated him positively for behaving in a manner that encourages respect for the courts and respecting court employees regardless of position. The resource staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation and parole officers, interpreters, etc.) results for Judge Aragon were not considered by the Commission for this evaluation due to a lack of sufficient respondents.
Experience & Education: Judge Robert Aragon was appointed as a District Court Judge in 2005 and elected in 2006. Prior to his appointment, he served as District Attorney for McKinley County and was in private practice. He presides over a diversified docket and hears civil, criminal, children's court and domestic relations cases. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from UNM.
