Evaluation: Overall, Judge Marci Beyer’s survey results were somewhat mixed. Attorneys rated her positively for being attentive to proceedings, being courteous to all participants, and for ensuring personal staff are professional, productive and knowledgeable of court policies and procedures. Attorneys rated Judge Beyer somewhat lower concerning sound legal reasoning and being knowledgeable regarding substantive law and the rules of procedure and evidence. Court staff results for Judge Beyer were generally positive. However, resource staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation and parole officers, interpreters, etc.) ratings were low in most areas surveyed and were the lowest among judges in the 3rd District. Judge Beyer acknowledged the results and has taken steps to improve her performance.
Experience & Education: Judge Marci Beyer was elected in 2012. Prior to her judgeship, she served as a legal aid attorney and director, prosecutor, criminal defense lawyer, and civil and family lawyer. In addition, she also served as the Doña Ana County Domestic Violence Commissioner and a Guardian ad litem. Judge Beyer received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University and her law degree from Indiana/Purdue University School of Law in 1981.
