Evaluation: Judge Baca's overall assessment was positive. Each of the groups surveyed provided favorable evaluations of his performance. Survey results indicate that Judge Baca brings great enthusiasm to his position as a district judge, conducts court business in a timely manner, is well versed in the law, and treats all involved in his court fairly. This evaluation did not reveal any specific weaknesses or areas in need of improvement. However, during his previous evaluation, Judge Baca identified timely disposition of cases and knowledge of substantive law as areas in which he would like to improve; he continues to take steps to address these perceived issues.
Experience & Education: Judge Baca was elected to the district judgeship in November 1998. Previous experiences include work in private practice and on the Bernalillo County Labor Relations Board. He has also been a Child Support Hearing Officer, a County Attorney, a Legislative Analyst, and a Settlement Facilitator. Judge Baca is active as a member on several Supreme Court Committees. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the District Judges Association. Judge Baca received both his Bachelor of Science degree and his law degree from the University of New Mexico.
