Evaluation: Judge Henry R. Quintero received somewhat mixed ratings among the populations surveyed. Attorneys rated him positively for decisively ruling on procedural and substantive matters, being knowledgeable of the law, and for ruling on motions or cases in a timely manner. However, attorneys rate him somewhat lower when it comes to conducting himself in a manner free from arrogance, as well as treating all participants equally and displaying fairness and impartiality towards each side of the case. Court staff rated him positively for behaving in a manner that encourages respect for the courts. However, scores given to Judge Quintero by the resource staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation and parole officers, interpreters, etc.) are somewhat lower in all areas of the survey. Although this evaluation indicated some weaknesses, the judge expressed a commitment to improving his judicial performance.
Experience & Education: Judge Quintero was appointed to district judgeship in 2003 and elected in 2004. Prior to his appointment, he spent 21 years in private practice and one year as a New Mexico Appellate Attorney at the Public Defender Department. He is currently serving as chair of the 6th Judicial District Pro-Bono Committee. He received his undergraduate degree from San Jose State University and his law degree from Gonzaga University in 1981.
