Evaluation: Judge Valentine received positive scores from all populations surveyed during this evaluation process, particularly for being courteous to all participants, conducting himself in a manner free from impropriety, starting court proceedings on time, being attentive to the proceedings, and for having a dignified demeanor. In addition, court staff rated him highly for maintaining appropriate hours, ensuring his personal staff is professional, and for respecting all court employees regardless of their position. He has maintained the high ratings he received in previous evaluations. There were no specific areas of weakness or concern. He has served as chief judge over the civil division and has demonstrated leadership.

Experience & Education: Judge Valentine was appointed to the bench in 1993 and elected in November 1994. He handles civil litigation and is the designated Water Judge in the Third Judicial District. Prior to his appointment, he was in private practice for 21 years. Judge Valentine is a guest lecturer at the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University. He received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University and his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
