Experience & Education: Judge Romero was appointed as District Court Judge in 2005 and elected in 2006. Prior to his appointment, he worked as an Assistant City Attorney in Albuquerque for approximately one year and then entered private practice for the next 23 years. He handles a criminal and civil caseload. Judge Romero participates in several community and statewide activities, including as member of the New Mexico Juvenile Justice Advisory Commission and as Chair of the Chaves County Strategy Board. Judge Romero received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University and his law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
