Evaluation: Judge Murdoch received positive ratings from all of the populations surveyed. For example, attorneys rated him highly for his knowledge of the law and for his ability to quickly and decisively rule on procedural and substantive matters. Court staff rated Judge Murdoch highly for respecting all court employees, displaying a sense of fairness, and for conducting himself in a proper manner. The resource staff (e.g. law enforcement officers, probation officers, etc.) rated the judge very highly for maintaining proper control over the courtroom and for conducting himself in a proper manner. However, attorneys rated Judge Murdoch slightly lower when it comes to avoiding being arrogant and courteousness to participants. Judge Murdoch expressed a desire to address the perception by some attorneys that he is arrogant or that he is not courteous to all participants.
Experience & Education: Judge Murdoch has served as a District Court Judge since 1985. He presides over criminal cases. Prior to becoming a judge, he served as a public defender. He received his undergraduate and law degree from the University of New Mexico.
