Evaluation: Judge Bell received very high ratings from both attorneys and non-attorneys in each area of the evaluation. Among attorneys, he received very high ratings for courtesy, fairness, knowledge and application of the law, and ruling on motions and cases in a timely manner. The resource staff (e.g. law enforcement and probation officers) also gave the judge high scores for his fairness and courtesy. In addition, the court staff rated the judge very well for respecting all court employees, respecting and cooperating with other judges, and for a having a dignified demeanor. Judge Bell has indicated a desire to maintain these high standards.
Experience & Education: Judge Bell was appointed District Judge on August 7, 2006, and elected on November 7, 2006. Prior to his appointment, he worked in private practice for 28 years. He presides over a diversified docket and hears both civil and criminal cases. Judge Bell is active in various civic and professional organizations. He received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and his law degree from the University of Texas.
