Evaluation: Judge Walker is an enthusiastic and energetic member of the bench. Her prior experience as a family law attorney and a hearing officer give her a special understanding of her family court assignment. All groups surveyed for this evaluation rated Judge Walker highly in each performance area. Her specific strengths include that she is respectful and courteous to all employees and participants, and is attentive to the proceedings. Judge Walker exhibits insight regarding her court and a sincere interest in the people she serves. This evaluation identified no areas of weakness for the judge; she has improved upon many of the high ratings she received in her previous evaluation. Judge Walker is dedicated to ongoing self-improvement, and strives to achieve the necessary balance between adhering to a firm schedule and addressing sensitive and painful family issues.
Experience & Education: Judge Walker was appointed to the District Court in July, 1997; prior to assuming the bench, she served as a Family Court Hearing Officer. She is active in both the legal community and the community at large. Her community involvement includes participation in mediation and Mock Trial programs in the public school system. The judge received an undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and her law degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
