In addition, court staff rated Judge Lujan highly in all areas. Being a recent addition to the bench, Judge Elaine Lujan has exhibited a solid grasp on her judicial duties and is committed to becoming an even more efficient jurist.
Experience & Education: Judge Elaine Lujan was appointed to the District Court bench in 2021 and elected in 2022. Prior to her appointment as a District Court Judge, Judge Lujan was a staff attorney at the Second Judicial District Court, Civil Division, an Assistant Attorney General in Civil Affairs at the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office, and a Law Clerk to Justice Edward Chavez at the New Mexico Supreme Court. Judge Lujan received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2003 and her law degree from UNM School of Law in 2007.
