Evaluation: Judge Brett Loveless’ overall survey results were quite positive. Judge Loveless was rated highly for being attentive to the proceedings, demonstrating appropriate demeanor on the bench, displaying familiarity with court cases through prior preparation, and for ensuring personal staff is professional, productive and knowledgeable of court policies and procedures. In addition, the court staff, resource staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation/parole, CASA volunteers, CYFD, interpreters, etc.) and jurors rated him positively on all attributes.

Experience & Education: Judge Brett Loveless was appointed as a District Court Judge in March 2012 and elected to the position in November 2014. Prior to becoming a District Court Judge, Judge Loveless served in the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s office for more than 10 years. He also worked in private practice in civil litigation. Judge Loveless received his undergraduate degree from UNM in 1992 and his law degree from the UNM School of Law in 1995.
