Evaluation: Judge Richard Jacquez received very high scores from court staff, resource staff (e.g., law enforcement officers, CASA volunteers, CYFD, interpreters, etc.) and jurors. Court staff rated Judge Jacquez very highly on respecting court employees regardless of position and behaving in a manner that encourages respect for the courts. Resource staff rated Judge Jacquez very highly in being attentive to the proceedings, being prompt in scheduling hearings and trials, being courteous to all participants, and behaving in a manner that encourages respect for the courts. While still generally positive, attorneys rated Judge Jacquez slightly lower than court staff and resource staff. Experience & Education: Judge Richard Jacquez was elected to the bench in November 2020. Prior to his election as District Court Judge, he worked in the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office, served as a judge in the Doña Ana County Magistrate Court, and worked at the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department. Judge Jacquez graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.A. in Political Science in 1994 and earned his law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1999.
