Evaluation: The Rules Governing the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission allow for an evaluation of a judge only if a judge has served at least two years in the current position or has sufficient data to achieve a statistically valid sample. Judge Thomas F. Stewart has served on the 6th Judicial District Court since December 2018, which does not allow enough time or sufficient data for the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission to evaluate him prior to the November 2020 election.
Experience & Education: Judge Thomas F. Stewart was elected to the bench in November 2018. Judge Stewart received his undergraduate degree from Creighton University and law degree from the UNM School of Law. Prior to the judge’s election, he worked as a Public Defender and had a general legal practice. His practice included family and business law, medical malpractice, personal injury, and estate planning. He is presently a member of the Grant County Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee and Vice-Chair of the Grant County Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee.
