Evaluation: Judge Thomas Fitch received positive ratings in this evaluation. Respondents indicate that the judge displays a thorough knowledge of substantive law and the rules of procedure. Judge Fitch is punctual in starting proceedings, is prompt in scheduling cases, maintains good control of the courtroom proceedings, and rules in a timely manner. This evaluation indicated no specific areas of weakness or concern. Judge Fitch has received excellent evaluations in the past and the current evaluation indicates that his overall judicial performance continues to improve.

Experience & Education: Judge Fitch was appointed District Judge in 1995 and was elected to that post in 1996; prior to this he worked in private practice for 23 years. The judge's community activities include serving on numerous civic and judiciary boards and committees, including the New Mexico District Judges' Association Board of Directors. Nationally, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Judicature Society. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his law degree from the University of Kentucky. Recently, he has completed the course work for a Master of Judicial Studies degree from University of Nevada in conjunction with the National Judicial College.
