Roderick T. Kennedy
Court of Appeals Judge
Statewide
Year: 2012
Evaluation: The results of Judge Kennedy's evaluation are somewhat mixed. Judge Kennedy's scores were quite positive among lawyers and other appellate judges for exhibiting appropriate demeanor. He also received positive scores among the court staff and other appellate judges for respecting court employees. However, Judge Kennedy received somewhat lower scores among the court staff and other appellate judges for timeliness of rulings and handling the ongoing workload -- an area in which he also received somewhat lower scores in his 2004 evaluation. Ultimately, the Commission concluded that Judge Kennedy's overall performance is satisfactory and that he is committed to improving in the areas noted above.
Experience & Education: Judge Kennedy was first elected to the bench as a Metropolitan Court Judge in Albuquerque in 1988. He was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1999, and again in 2001. Judge Kennedy has been involved in a number of professional and civic activities; he has been recognized with several awards for his contributions to the legal profession.
