Evaluation: Judge Jeffreys received positive ratings from all of the populations surveyed. In fact, there has been little variation in the positive ratings he has received in each review since 2001. Attorneys rate the judge well on discharging responsibilities diligently, promptness in scheduling hearings and trials, and for his clear, thorough and logical written decisions. Judge Jeffreys' knowledge of substantive law and the rules of procedure, his control over the proceedings in his courtroom, his preparation, and his sound legal reasoning are well regarded. The court staff rate Judge Jeffreys positively for respecting and cooperating with other judges and for respecting all court employees regardless of their position.
Experience & Education: Judge Jeffreys was elected to the district judgeship in November 1998. Prior to this, he worked in private practice for 24 years in Deming, New Mexico. He also runs the Juvenile Drug Court. Judge Jeffreys presently serves as the President for the Kots Retirement Center and Mimbres Library Foundation, Inc. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas and his law degree from the University of New Mexico.
