Douglas R. Driggers
District Court Judge
3rd Judicial District
Doña Ana County
Year: 2008
Evaluation: Judge Driggers received positive ratings from court staff and resource staff (e.g. law enforcement and probation officers), and somewhat mixed ratings from attorneys. This evaluation revealed several of the judge's specific strengths. For example, all three groups rated him positively for beginning proceedings on time, and for promptly scheduling hearings and trials. Court staff rated him positively for ensuring his personal staff is professional and for discharging administrative responsibilities diligently. In addition, both attorneys and resource staff rated Judge Driggers well for displaying familiarity with court cases through prior preparation and for ruling on motions or cases in a timely manner. However, some of the scores given to Judge Driggers by attorneys were somewhat lower. Specifically, this evaluation revealed that the judge needs to make improvements concerning the perceptions about his fairness and demeanor. The judge has indicated a willingness to improve in these areas.
