Evaluation: Judge Currier received positive ratings as part of this evaluation in all of the areas surveyed. Attorneys gave the judge very high scores for his knowledge of the law, treating pro se (self-represented) litigants fairly, ruling on motions or cases in a timely manner, and for maintaining proper control over the proceedings. The resource staff (e.g. police officers and social workers) and court staff both rated him well for being punctual in commencing proceedings, discharging responsibilities diligently, and for displaying a dignified demeanor. Judge Currier has improved his scores in all areas since his last evaluation in 2005. He has expressed a commitment to striving for improvement and excellence in his judicial performance.
Experience & Education: Judge Currier was appointed to the bench in March 2002 and elected in November 2002. He has participated in creating new and innovative programs at the Chaves County Detention Center as well as working with the New Mexico Youth Challenge Academy. Judge Currier received his undergraduate degree from Delaware Valley College and his law degree from the University of New Mexico. He has practiced law for more than thirty years.
