Attorneys rated her highly for treating all courtroom participants with respect, treating self-represented parties fairly, maintaining professional demeanor in the courtroom, and for being attentive to the proceedings. Court staff and jurors rated her positively on all attributes. Resource staff (e.g., law enforcement officers, CASA volunteers, CYFD, interpreters, etc.) rated Judge Schneider positively in several areas. However, resource staff rated her lower in the areas of clear and thorough oral decisions/communications and being punctual in commencing proceedings. Judge Schneider discussed the changes and efforts she has already made to improve these scores among resource staff and is confident in and dedicated to improving in these areas.
Experience & Education: Judge Angie K. Schneider was elected to district judgeship in 2014. Prior to being elected, she worked in private practice specializing in adult criminal, juvenile justice, child welfare, domestic relations, government, and civil law from 2003 to 2013. She also served with the State of New Mexico Public Defender’s Office from 2001 to 2003. Judge Schneider received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico in 1998 and her law degree from University of New Mexico School of Law.
