Evaluation: Judge Manuel Arrieta received a somewhat mixed overall evaluation. Judge Arrieta received positive scores from attorneys for maintaining professional demeanor in the courtroom, treating all courtroom participants with respect, and for treating self-represented parties fairly. Judge Arrieta received positive scores from attorneys and court staff for ensuring his personal staff is professional, productive, and knowledgeable of court policies and procedures. However, attorneys rated him somewhat lower for not always decisively ruling on procedural and substantive matters and for not being thoroughly knowledgeable regarding substantive law and the rules of procedure and evidence.
Experience & Education: Judge Manuel Arrieta graduated from New Mexico State University and received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1984. He was appointed as a District Court Judge in 2009 and was subsequently elected in 2010. His colleagues elected Judge Arrieta as Chief Judge in April 2019. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Arrieta worked in private practice as a civil defense attorney.
