Experience & Education: Judge Joshua J. Sanchez earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in 2002 and his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2006. Before joining the bench, he served as contract counsel for the Law Offices of the Public Defender and as an associate at the Law Offices of Michael S. Sanchez. Appointed to the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court in 2021, he was elected to a full term in 2022. That same year, he became Presiding Judge of the Metropolitan Court’s Behavioral Health Court. In 2023, his colleagues elected him Chief Judge of the Metropolitan Court, and he is currently serving his second term in that role.
