Experience & Education: Judge Stephen Ochoa attended the University of New Mexico for both his undergraduate and law school education. After law school, he was a prosecutor in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Alamogordo and Carrizozo. In 2017, he transitioned to work with the Law Office of the Public Defender, ultimately becoming the managing attorney in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was appointed to the district court bench in 2023 and was elected to that same position in 2024.
