Evaluation: Judge Curtis Gurley received a generally positive evaluation. Judge Gurley received positive ratings from attorneys for maintaining proper control over the proceedings, ensuring that participants understand the court proceedings, being punctual in commencing proceedings, for being attentive to the proceedings, and for being prepared for court proceedings. The court staff rated him positively for treating self-represented parties fairly and for ensuring his personal staff is professional, productive, and knowledgeable of court policies and procedures. The resource staff (e.g. law enforcement, probation/parole, CASA volunteers, CYFD, interpreters, etc.) rated Judge Gurley generally positive in all areas. Since Judge Gurley’s 2023 evaluation, his scores improved significantly among all three of these groups.

Experience & Education: Judge Curtis Gurley received his B.A in Political Science from the University of Missouri in 1986 and received his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1989. He was appointed District Judge in 2019 and elected in 2020. Before serving on the District Court bench, Judge Gurley worked in private general practice from 1989 to 2019. He has served his community on numerous regional boards of directors and federal committees.
