Experience & Education: Judge Lisa Chavez Ortega received her B.A. in Criminology from the University of New Mexico in 1994 and received her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1997. She was appointed as a District Judge in 2019 and elected in 2020. For more than twenty years before taking the bench, Judge Ortega practiced law with a focus on personal injury and wrongful death claims throughout New Mexico.
